Victorian Humpback Steamer Trunk w/Tray - A Victorian-period humpback steamer trunk, also referred to as a camel-back trunk, featuring a wood-plank frame clad in metal sheeting. The exterior is reinforced with horizontal and vertical hardwood slats, possibly oak or ash, secured with metal rivets. The trunk is fitted with ornamental cast iron corner guards featuring scrollwork and stamped steel hardware, including two side latches and a central locking mechanism. The interior contains a single removable lift-out wooden tray with a central divider and circular finger grips. The interior surfaces are lined with paper, showing remnants of a decorative border and a fragmented chromolithograph image on the underside of the lid. A small portion of a dark silhouette is visible in the center of the lid lining, though no maker name or identifying text is legible. . Width measures approximately 28 inches across the front edge.
