Mutt and Jeff Cast Iron Still Bank - This cast iron still bank depicts the early 20th-century comic strip characters Mutt and Jeff. The composition features the taller character, Mutt, standing with his hands on his hips and his left foot resting atop a black rectangular block. Beside him stands the shorter character, Jeff, wearing a brown coat and a black top hat. The bank is constructed from two primary vertical castings joined by a single large flat-head screw located on the reverse of the taller figure. A horizontal coin slot is integrated into the back of the shorter figure's head and shoulders. The piece features a cold-painted finish in shades of blue, brown, black, and flesh tones. No maker marks, patent dates, model numbers, or country-of-origin stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces or the underside of the base (photo 5). The screw on the reverse is plain and lacks identifying characters (photo 3). Dimensions: 3 in high.
