Vtg Ronson & Omsco Lite Table Lighters - A collection of mid-century table lighters in various architectural and decorative forms, primarily of American manufacture with one Japanese example. The group includes several identified Ronson models. Two saucer-shaped chrome lighters feature bases with impressed marks reading RONSON (R) TEMPO, NEWARK, N.J. U.S.A., and U.S. PATENT 2,481,195. One of these carries a white rectangular price sticker reading $15.00. A fluted, silver-plated lighter is marked on the base with RONSON (R) MADE IN U.S.A., U.S. PATENT RE. NO. 19023, CANADA PATS - 288,148 - 289,889, and RONSON NEWPORT TRADE MARK. A chrome-plated model with horizontal banded ribbing is marked RONSON (R) SPARTAN, NEWARK, N.J. U.S.A., U.S. PATS. RE. 19,023 - 2,481,195, and CANADA PATS. 288,148-289,889. A fifth Ronson lighter with a bulbous, decorative body bears impressed marks on the base for NEWARK, N.J. U.S.A. and U.S. PATENT RE. NO. 19023, partially obscured by a pink adhesive label reading $8.00 lighter with a handwritten inventory code. Also present is a Japanese-made lighter with a gadrooned body and a green felt-covered base. The metal plate beneath the felt is marked OMSCO LITE, AUTOMATIC, SUPERLIGHTER, JAPAN. The collection is accompanied by a Ronson paperboard box from Newark, New Jersey, containing a spare lighter insert, a small metal wire brush, a white string tag, and printed instructional ephemera for the RONSON TABLE AND DESK LIGHTER.
