Japanese Mortar Cannon Table Lighter - A Japanese novelty table lighter designed in the form of a mortar cannon, dating to the mid-20th century. The barrel is constructed from silver-toned cast metal and features an embossed heraldic shield depicting a three-tiered pagoda or tower surrounded by decorative scrollwork. The barrel is hinged, allowing it to tilt upward to access a chrome-plated lighter insert. The wooden carriage base is finished in a dark stain and is embellished with metal straps, two circular metal ring handles, and numerous faceted pyramid-head studs. The chrome lighter mechanism is stamped with the word JAPAN.
