Vtg Wood Woodpecker Cigarette Dispenser - A vintage mechanical cigarette dispenser constructed from hand-carved wood with a medium brown stain finish. The object consists of a rectangular cigarette storage compartment and a novelty bird figure mounted on a shared stepped base. The exterior of the box, including the hinged lid and all four sides, features dense geometric chip carving in the tramp art style. A wooden pull-knob is located on the side of the box; when pulled, it operates a mechanism intended to move a single cigarette into a central slot. Simultaneously, the carved bird figure, which is pivoted atop a cylindrical barrel base, is designed to dip its beak into the slot. The interior of the box contains a sloped floor to guide cigarettes toward the dispensing point. The bird is stylized with carved feather patterns and a long beak. The base is finished with a decorative carved border. No maker marks, signatures, manufacturer labels, or country-of-origin stamps were detected on any visible surfaces of the item.
