Washington Inaugural Cast Metal Hatchet - A commemorative cast metal hatchet produced as a souvenir for the centennial of George Washington's inauguration. The piece features a pierced openwork head framing a profile portrait of Washington facing left. The handle is cast with embossed text in a decorative script. The left side of the handle reads WASHINGTON INAUGURATED and the right side reads PRESIDENT OF THE U. S. APRIL 30 1789. The reverse side is flat and textured with no additional ornamentation. A small metal link chain is attached to two loops along the top edge of the handle for display. No maker's marks, signatures, or country of origin stamps are visible on the metal surfaces. A white rectangular adhesive barcode label reading 126 is attached to the hanging chain, and a secondary white paper hangtag is also present. Dimensions: 12 in long.
