Bidspirit auction | Pair Cast Brass Beetle Lidded

Pair Cast Brass Beetle Lidded Ashtrays - A pair of vintage cast brass ashtrays modeled in the form of stylized beetles, likely ladybugs or scarabs. Each piece features a rounded, segmented body with six protruding legs and a head cast with prominent mandibles. The elytra, or wing cases, are designed as a hinged lid that opens to reveal a shallow circular basin intended for ash. The exterior of the shell is decorated with raised circular motifs and a central longitudinal line. The underside of one beetle displays faint stamped indentations (image 6) that are illegible and do not form a discernable name or mark. No other maker marks, signatures, or country-of-origin stamps are visible. A white adhesive auction tag is attached to one leg, which reads Lot of 2 and Lighter collection online only (image 4).
