Vtg Dr. Grabow & Yello-Bole Briar Pipes - An assortment of vintage estate smoking pipes featuring a variety of classic forms including billiard, apple, pot, and bulldog shapes. The pipes are primarily constructed from briar wood with vulcanite or synthetic stems, with several examples including metal ferrules or bands. Surface textures vary across the collection, displaying smooth, rusticated, and sandblasted finishes. One pipe shank bears an impressed mark reading STUBBY over IMPORTED BRIAR (Photo 6). A rusticated pipe shank is stamped CROWN DUKE over DR. GRABOW and is paired with a stem featuring an inset metallic spade symbol (Photo 7). An Italian-made pipe shank shows an impressed mark reading CENTURY OLD over BRIAR ITALY (Photo 8). A French-made pipe is marked with the impressed text ALGERIAN BRIAR over MADE IN FRANCE (Photo 9). One pipe with a dark polished finish bears the impressed mark YELLO-BOLE over NOVA (Photo 10). Another rusticated pipe with an amber-toned stem is impressed with the mark BRIARLEE over STROLLER (Photo 11). The collection contains numerous other pipes of similar materials and construction without distinct legible maker names.
