Set 4 Penguin & Ruby Japanese Lighters - This set of four vintage automatic pocket lighters is constructed from chrome-plated metal with printed decorative panels featuring mid-century advertising graphics. Three lighters in the group are stamped on the ignition arm with the name PENGUIN. The bases of these three lighters are stamped with the characters JAPAN, HIGH QUALITY, SUPERLATIVE AUTOMATIC LIGHTER, and NO. 18250. Two of these feature Camel Cigarettes advertising with a desert scene and the slogan HAVE A REAL CIGARETTE!, while the third promotes Old Kentucky Tavern whiskey. The whiskey lighter includes a red and gold crest on the reverse side containing the characters G & D. The fourth lighter features Busch Bavarian Beer graphics on one side and local distribution advertising for Swed Distributing Co. Tampa St. Petersburg on the reverse. The base of this beer-branded lighter is stamped with the name RUBY 1700, a circular geometric logo, MAKE OF QUALITY, PA. NO. 500781, and JAPAN. A white adhesive price sticker with handwritten blue characters 5.00 is attached to the top hood of one Camel lighter.
