Vtg American Metal Alligator Nutcracker - A vintage American-made lever-action nutcracker featuring a figural alligator subject. The piece is constructed from cast white metal with an applied brass-toned finish. The upper lever is modeled as an alligator or crocodile perched atop a textured rocky outcropping, while the base is designed with four cloven-hoof feet. The crushing mechanism consists of interlocking serrated teeth integrated into the lever and base. Several cast marks are visible across the piece. A circular medallion on the side of the rocky base contains the raised word FLORIDA. The side of the base near the rear hinge is cast with PAT PEND, though the faint characters directly above it are not legible as a name or date. The underside of the lever handle is cast with the characters MADE IN U.S.A. 8.5 in long
