Edison Stock Ticker Brass Table Lighter - A mid-20th-century commemorative table lighter designed as a miniature replica of an Edison stock ticker. The piece features a brass mechanism mounted on a square, dark-stained wooden base and is housed beneath a removable glass dome. The mechanism includes decorative knurled wheels, steel springs, and a vertical strip of white paper printed with alphanumeric characters to simulate ticker tape. The top of the brass unit contains a manual lighter mechanism with a textured striker wheel and a hinged snuffer arm. A brass plaque is affixed to the front of the wooden base with two pins, featuring raised text that reads EDISON STOCK TICKER Designed by Thomas Edison in 1870 this stock ticker was used for receiving stock quotations from the nation' s leading exchanges for over 80 years.
