Two American Applique Quilt Tops - Approx 76x80in each This lot consists of two vintage, unfinished quilt tops dating to the mid-20th century. Both pieces represent American vernacular textile traditions and consist only of the top layer without batting or backing. The first piece features a pieced and appliqu?d design with blocks containing a central orange diamond surrounded by four green leaf motifs, separated by wide green sashing. The second piece features large-scale stylized yellow foliate or Oak Leaf motifs appliqu?d onto a white background. This piece is notably prepared for quilting, with the motifs secured by white basting stitches and the background extensively marked with fine pencil or ink lines depicting elaborate wave and scroll patterns. Both pieces are constructed from cotton or cotton-blend fabrics.
