Antique Red Painted Railroad Lantern with W & L E R R Embossed Globe - 10in This antique railroad lantern consists of a metal frame with a red-painted finish and a clear glass globe. The glass globe is embossed with the letters W & L E R R, representing the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad. The lantern features a circular wire cage to protect the globe, a perforated top ventilator, and a lower reservoir section for fuel. A wire bail handle is attached for carrying. The lantern includes an internal burner assembly. The form and construction are consistent with early 20th-century railroad safety lanterns such as those manufactured by the Adams and Westlake Company or Handlan.
