Elgin Art Deco Brass/Marble Clock, 1931 - This Art Deco desk clock features an eight-day mechanical movement manufactured by the Elgin National Watch Company. The circular brass-toned metal case is suspended between two geometric pylon-style pillars. The assembly is mounted on a rectangular black marble base with white veining. The dial is finished in a light cream or silver tone with black Arabic numerals and stylized black hands. The face is marked ELGIN at the top and 8 DAYS at the bottom. The reverse of the clock case is engraved with commemorative text reading 57TH IMPERIAL COUNCIL SESSION, A A O N M S, 1931, CLEVELAND, OHIO, U. S. A. The piece commemorates the 1931 meeting of the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (Shriners). A knurled brass knob for winding and setting the time is located at the bottom of the clock case.
