Bidspirit auction | Arthur Sarnoff Genesee Beer Yacht

Arthur Sarnoff Genesee Beer Yacht Sign - 15x20 This vintage illuminated advertising sign for Genesee Beer features a central panel depicting a nautical scene of two sailboats racing. The artwork is a commercial reproduction of the painting titled Yacht Race by artist Arthur Sarnoff (American, 1912-2000). The panel is constructed from textured, molded plastic designed to simulate the heavy impasto and palette knife application of an oil painting on board. The scene illustrates sailors navigating a yacht through choppy water under a cloud-filled sky, with a second vessel visible in the background. The signature of Arthur Sarnoff is printed in red script in the lower right corner of the image. The panel is set within a deep, molded frame finished with a dark wood-grain effect and features an integrated lower plaque with the words GENESEE BEER in yellow block lettering on a red textured ground. The reverse of the sign consists of a large, angled metal light box housing with three mounting loops and a pull-chain switch at the base. A manufacturer label on the back identifies the sign as a product of Signcor, Elk Grove Village, Illinois, and lists technical specifications: VOLTS 115, CYCLES 60, AMPS .35. A union label with serial number G43825526 is also present. The sign is accompanied by its original cardboard shipping carton, printed with FRAGILE and Signcor company branding.
