Mid-20th C. Cotton Patchwork Tied Scrap Quilt - 54 x 76 This vintage American utility scrap quilt is constructed in a nine-patch variation pattern. The quilt top is composed of numerous small squares of diverse cotton and cotton-blend fabrics, featuring a variety of patterns including solids, florals, stripes, ginghams, and novelty fruit prints such as cherries and apples. These patterned sections are separated by horizontal rows of solid red sashing. The quilt is held together by ties made of pink yarn rather than traditional quilting stitches. The backing consists of two large panels of fabric in cream and yellow tones. The edges are finished with a yellow fabric binding. The internal batting is visible through damaged areas and appears to be a coarse natural fiber.
