Mid-20th Century Reversible Hand-Appliqued and Hand-Quilted Cotton Quilt - 76 x 84 This mid-20th century reversible quilt is constructed from cotton fabrics and displays extensive handwork. The primary side features sixteen blocks of hand-appliqued motifs in solid blue cotton on a white ground, depicting a variation of the Rose of Sharon or Melon pattern with a central scalloped square and four almond-shaped petals. The design is framed by concentric solid blue and white border strips. The reverse side is made from a floral print fabric featuring yellow roses, pink blossoms, and green leaves on a white background, typical of the 1940s to 1950s era. The piece is hand-quilted throughout with clamshell or fan patterns on the white field and straight-line quilting on the borders. The edges are finished with a separate cream-colored hand-sewn binding.
