Mid-20th C. Appliqued Tulip Bouquet Cotton Quilt - 68 x 70 This mid-20th century American hand-quilted and hand-appliqu?d cotton scrap quilt features the Tulip Bouquet pattern. The quilt top is composed of nine blocks arranged in a three-by-three grid on a cream-colored base fabric. Each block contains an appliqu?d vase with a bouquet of flowers, including stylized tulips and smaller floral buds. The appliqu? utilizes a variety of period-appropriate scrap fabrics, including solid red and yellow cottons, red-and-white gingham, purple-and-white checks, and multi-colored floral prints. These elements are hand-stitched to the base using a decorative blanket or buttonhole stitch. The piece is densely hand-quilted with elaborate motifs, featuring feathered fan or wreath patterns bordering the floral blocks and quilted heart designs in the alternating spaces. The composition is set within a comprehensive quilted diamond grid. The quilt is finished with a narrow, hand-applied white fabric binding and contains a thin interior batting.
