Mid-20th Century American Pieced Cotton Star Pattern Quilt Top - 80 x 104 This item is an unfinished vintage quilt top, consisting of the pieced fabric layer only without batting, backing, or quilting. It is constructed from a variety of cotton fabrics featuring four-pointed star motifs, sometimes referred to as a kite or friendship star variant, set on point. Each star is composed of four diamond-shaped fabric pieces joined by white cotton triangles and squares to create a geometric grid pattern. The fabrics used are a diverse assortment of mid-20th-century scrap materials, including small-scale florals, ginghams, polka dots, stripes, and solid colors. These prints are characteristic of the 1930s to 1950s feedsack and calico styles. The construction utilizes a combination of hand and machine stitching, visible on the reverse side of the top. A small, hand-marked character resembling a cursive letter e or a similar symbol is present in dark ink on one of the orange diamond pieces near the center of the textile.
