Mid-20th C. American 8-Pointed Star Cotton Quilt - 70 x 82 A hand-pieced and hand-quilted cotton scrap quilt featuring a variation of the eight-pointed star pattern. The quilt top is composed of sixteen individual star blocks arranged in a four-by-four grid. Each star is meticulously pieced from diamond-shaped fabric scraps including various plaids, ginghams, calico floral prints, and solid cottons in shades of brown, tan, green, pink, and black. These stars are set into a vibrant turquoise-blue solid ground with alternating solid blue square blocks. The quilt is finished with hand-quilting in a simple utilitarian running stitch using white thread that follows the lines of the pieced stars and squares. The reverse side is a plain white cotton fabric, and the edges are finished with a narrow white binding.
