American Folk Art Hand-Tied Patchwork Crazy Quilt - 60 x 72 A mid-to-late 20th-century hand-tied patchwork quilt of American folk art origin. The quilt top is composed of sixteen large rectangular blocks arranged in a four-by-four grid, separated by light blue fabric sashing. Each block is constructed in a crazy quilt style from various irregular fabric remnants. These patches are joined using a decorative yellow blanket stitch. The materials consist of a wide variety of clothing remnants, including double-knits, wool blends, cotton, and synthetic fabrics. Patterns across the patches include various plaids, stripes, houndstooth, checks, and solid colors in a palette characteristic of the 1960s and 1970s. The quilt is hand-tied with small tufts of green and brown yarn visible on both the front and back. The reverse side is a single large piece of neutral-toned plaid fabric in shades of tan, brown, and cream.
