Mid-C. American Spider Web Patchwork Quilt - 72 x 84 A vintage handmade patchwork quilt featuring a Spider Web or Kaleidoscope block pattern. The quilt top is constructed from a diverse assortment of cotton scrap fabrics, including floral prints, stripes, ginghams, and novelty patterns such as a nautical anchor motif. The individual blocks are separated by solid-colored cotton sashing in shades of pink, sky blue, and tan. A blue and white gingham fabric forms the outer border. The piece is entirely hand-quilted with a diagonal diamond grid pattern across the blocks and additional stitching following the structural lines of the patchwork wedges. The reverse consists of a solid cream cotton backing. The selection of fabrics, including large-scale daisy prints, is characteristic of mid-20th-century American domestic textiles.
