American Turkey Red & White Greek Cross Quilt - 92 x 96 This is an antique American hand-pieced and hand-quilted patchwork quilt, constructed from Turkey red and off-white cotton fabrics. The central field features thirty-six blocks arranged in a six-by-six grid. The block pattern is a variation of the Greek Cross or Cross within a Cross, characterized by a central white diamond surrounded by a red cross with flared arms. The main field is enclosed by a Flying Geese border consisting of a continuous row of red triangles. The quilt exhibits extensive hand-quilting throughout, including concentric fan or clamshell patterns in the background and starburst or floral motifs quilted into the larger white setting squares. The reverse side is composed of off-white cotton fabric with visible vertical seams, and the edges are finished with a simple turned-edge binding.
