US Mint Panama Proof Coins, 1966-1972 - This collection consists of proof coins from Panama, struck by the US Mint in 1966, 1971, and 1972. The coins are individually housed in cardboard and plastic 2x2 flips, several of which include handwritten prices and mintage data. Denominations represented include the copper Un Centesimo, copper-nickel 5 Centesimos, Vn Decimo de Balboa, and Vn Cvarto de Balboa. Obverse designs feature the Coat of Arms of Panama with the legend REPUBLICA DE PANAMA and the date of issue. Reverse designs depict the portrait of Vasco Nunez de Balboa wearing a Morion helmet or the denomination within a laurel wreath. These coins are part of low-mintage runs: 12,701 struck in 1966; 10,696 struck in 1971; and 13,322 struck in 1972. Each specimen displays a proof strike with mirrored fields and sharp, frosted devices.
