Pair Weeden 900 & Jr. Engineer Toy Steam Engines - This lot contains two electric toy steam engines. The first engine is a Weeden Cat. No. 900 model from the Weeden Manufacturing Company of New Bedford, Massachusetts. It is constructed with a cast iron base, an orange-red painted metal housing, and a brass boiler with a red-painted chimney. The cast iron base has the name WEEDEN embossed into the metal. A brass manufacturer plate is mounted to the front and states: TRADE WEEDEN MARK, WEEDEN MFG. CO., REG. U.S. PAT. OFF., NEW BEDFORD, MASS., VOLTS 115, WATTS 400, CAT. NO. 900. The mechanism includes an electrically heated boiler designed to drive a single-cylinder engine with a side-mounted flywheel and a glass water level sight gauge. It retains a fabric-braided power cord. The second engine is a Junior Engineer model. The label on the base identifies it as a JUNIOR ENGINEER model manufactured by THE K J [unclear] R CORPORATION, commonly attributed to the K. J. Miller Corporation. This unit features a gray-painted cast iron base, a red heating chamber, and an orange spoked flywheel. The heater connects to the piston and cylinder assembly via a clear plastic tube. It includes a brown plastic power cord. No original boxes or instructions are present.
