Hand-Colored Glass Lantern Slides - This collection consists of a set of 10 hand-colored glass magic lantern slides, attributed to German manufacturers such as Ernst Plank or similar firms from the late 19th century. The slides are presented in two vertical columns within a black, pebble-textured protective frame. The imagery features a range of narrative and decorative scenes characteristic of late Victorian entertainment. Featured subjects include winter activities such as sledding and snowman building, rural peasant life, interior domestic scenes, and children at play by a river with swans. One slide depicts anthropomorphic animals in a circus-style performance, including a figure balancing on a sphere. The collection includes two slides featuring circular vignettes. One contains four landscape scenes: an alpine cottage, a mountainous volcanic scene, a nocturnal woodland, and a winter village. The final slide features four portrait vignettes of European royalty, identified by their distinctive uniforms and facial hair as Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria, Emperor Frederick III of Germany, and Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany, alongside a young girl, likely a royal princess of the period.
