Chinoiserie Style Blue and White Porcelain Planter - 10in tall This large ceramic planter is constructed of white glazed porcelain and decorated with hand-painted underglaze blue motifs. The vessel features a bulbous, rounded body that tapers to a wide, un-lipped rim and sits upon a broad, flared, and stepped circular base. The primary decoration consists of a continuous scrolling lotus and vine pattern, also referred to as baoxianghua. The neck is encircled by a border of stylized leaf and scroll motifs, while the base is finished with a band of pointed petal or lappet designs. On the underside of the base, a central circular area appears to have been intentionally abraded or painted over with a white substance, obscuring any original maker mark. A faint, small incised mark resembling the letter V is visible just above this obscured section. 10 in tall
