Antique Painted Wooden Beer Barrel for The Franklin Brewing Co., Columbus, Ohio - This antique wooden beer barrel is a pre-Prohibition era advertising piece produced for The Franklin Brewing Co. of Columbus, Ohio. The barrel is constructed of vertical wooden staves secured by four wide metal hoops. The exterior is finished in a weathered dark teal paint. Incised lettering on the upper portion of the staves reads THE FRANKLIN BR'G. CO. COLUMBUS O. A secondary, inverted inscription is visible near the bottom of the barrel. A metal bung hole bushing is centered on one side. The top head of the barrel has been removed to create a large circular opening, indicating it was repurposed for use as a dry goods bin or decorative receptacle.
