American Illinois Militia Union 21 Star Snare Drum - An American early 19th century Illinois militia regimental drum having an ash veneer drum body with cow hide leather heads attached with twin, and featuring a bald eagle & star motif on the drum body. Having 21 inlaid stars surrounding the great seal of the United States Eagle at the middle. The seal appears to be an applied paper. The drum was purchased from a long time collector in Illinois and based on the 21 stars, it is thought to represent Illinois as the 21st state to join the union in 1819.
