“…No person shall be able to cause you harm in any way…” Blessings for Protection and Success from the Rebbe R’ Yeshayeleh of Tshchov ZI”A A sacred postcard-letter from the holy tzaddik Rabbi Yitzchak Yeshayah Halberstam ZI”A, the youngest son of Maran HaKadosh the Rabbi Chaim Halberstam of Sanz ZI”A. Addressed to the chassidic philanthropist R’ Avrohom Frenkil of Limanov, the Rebbe writes simply: “Im yirtzeh HaShem, on Shabbos Parshas Tazria–Metzora ha’ba aleinu l’tovah, I will be in your midst; therefore I kindly request of his honor to prepare lodgings for me.” And then — an extraordinary brachah pours from his pen: “And I entreat on his behalf: May Hashem, in His goodness, elevate you upon the heights of success, higher and higher; and may no person be able to cause you harm in any matter; and may you celebrate the upcoming Chag HaMatzos with joy and in full kashrus.” From this point, the Rebbe continues entirely in his own holy handwriting: “The words of one who entreats on your behalf and blesses you with all good, HaK’ Yitzchak Yeshayah, son of the holy tzaddik of Sanz.” A Postcard from the Rebbe’s Own Home The letter is written on an original postcard from the Rebbe’s residence. Printed upon it in foreign script: “Rabbiner Isaak Osias Halberstam” 38 Deitel-Gasse The recipient’s name and city are inscribed, the original five-heller stamp remains affixed, together with the official postal cancellation. About R’ Yeshayeleh of Tshchov The renowned tzaddik Rabbi Yitzchak Yeshayah Halberstam ZI”A was widely regarded as bearing the very tzurah and madreigah of his holy father, the Divrei Chaim. Wherever he came for Shabbos, it became a regional event. Multitudes of chassidim streamed in to spend Shabbos in the shadow of the son of the Divrei Chaim and to receive his brachos. Even the holy Rebbe of Rabbi Mordechai of Nadvorna ZI”A would come to spend Shabbos in his presence when he was in the area. At times the crowds were so overwhelming that no lodging remained. Chassidim slept in marketplaces and along the streets — just to be near him for Shabbos. A brachah in his own hand! “…may no person be able to cause you harm…”
