Beis Hillel — Dyhernfurth 1691 From the Otzar of R’ Shlomo of Sassov ZY”A Beis Hillel, the foundational and widely accepted peirush on Shulchan Aruch — Yoreh Deah and Even HaEzer — by the gaon R’ Hillel ben R’ Naftali Hertz ZT”l, whose work became established throughout Klal Yisroel as a יסוד מוסד in halachah l’maaseh. Printed in Dyhernfurth in 1691, at the famed press of R’ Shabsai Meshorer Bas, Baal Sifsei Chachamim. The sefer comprises two parts — Yoreh Deah and Even HaEzer — each with its own title page, and was printed with numerous haskamos from gedolei ha’dor, including the kadosh ha’mekubal R’ Naftali Katz, Baal Semichas Chachamim. The Stamp of R’ Shlomo of Sassov On the sha’ar appears the stamp of R’ Shlomo of Sassov ZY”A, among the great tzaddikim and baalei mofes of his generation. R’ Shlomo Meir of Sassov was the son of the wondrous tzaddik R’ Henich of Alesk, and his mother Rebbetzin Freida was a daughter of the Sar Shalom of Belz ZY”A. He conducted his court in Sassov, where thousands flocked to him. He was known as a po’el yeshuos and was especially renowned for dealing with cases of dibbukim. He was niftar in Lvov on 12 Adar 1919, and is buried there.
