Shu”t Rabbeinu Nissim (RaN), Cremona 1557 – Early Edition Shu”t Rabbeinu Nissim (RaN), she’eilos u’teshuvos by Rabbeinu Nissim of Gerona, Cremona 1557 – an early edition. This early and rare edition was printed based on the first edition published in Rome in 1545/46, edited with additions by the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Latas. The author, the Gaon Yisroel, Rabbeinu Nissim ben Reuven Gerondi, RaN (1320–1380), was one of the greatest poskim of all time, upon whom all of Klal Yisrael relies. He was born in Barcelona, Spain, where he established a stronghold of Torah. Among his famous works is his commentary on the Rif, printed alongside all orders of the Shas. Rabbeinu was answering questions of Torah from all corners of the world. Among his talmidim was the renowned Rabbeinu Yitzchak bar Sheshet, the Rivash . His droshos contain deep insights that, in many aspects, parallel the teachings of the great Chassidic Rebbes.
