Printed Letter by Rabbi Yekutiel Yehuda Schenfeld, Permitting the Release from Agunah of a Young Man from Stantov. A Rare and Unique Item! Ratzfert, 1932. ”And since it is fitting to make efforts for the husband, who is still young… and is forced to wander without a wife… especially as I have been requested… to make efforts for this man and to release him from the bonds of Aginut, therefore I have expressed my opinion according to the views of the early and later authorities” – a halachic ruling by the Dayan of Ratzfert, Rabbi Yekutiel Yehuda Schenfeld, permitting the remarriage of a young man whose wife rebelled against him, refused to appear before a Beit Din, held corrupt views, and slandered him with wicked accusations. The Gaon Rabbi Yekutiel Yehuda (Zalman Leib) Schenfeld HY”D (ca. 1895–1944) – son of the righteous Gaon Rabbi Moshe Yochanan Schenfeld, Av Beit Din of Mihăfalău, author of Nachalei Mayim, and one of the close disciples of Rabbeinu the Divrei Chaim. Rabbi Yekutiel Yehuda married the daughter of Rabbi Shaul Rosenberg, Av Beit Din of Ratzfert, author of Chemdat Shaul. Following his marriage, he served as Dayan and Moreh Hora’ah in Ratzfert, later assisting his father in Mihăfalău. He was murdered Al Kiddush Hashem in Auschwitz, together with his wife and four of their children, on Rosh Chodesh Sivan 1944. The husband, R. Yirmiyah b. Moshe of Stantov , born in 1895, is most likely Yirmiyah (Jeno) Blau, who perished in Auschwitz in 1944, together with his wife from his second marriage. Folds, minor tears, good condition.
