Louis Slobodkin- 1940's Head of a Male Sculpture - Louis Slobodkin (1903-1975) was raised in upstate New York and was an American Renaissance man. He headed the sculpture division of the Works Progress Administration in 1941-1942 and later sculpted figural relief panels for the United States Post Office in New York City and the nation's capital. He is also well known for his illustrations for collectors with his children's books and cartoons in The New Yorkers Magazine.
