1971 Edward Steichen SAVE OUR PLANET - Edward Steichen (1879-1973) was a key figure in twentieth-century photography. Poster entitled 'Save our Planet, Save our Wilderness' by Edward Steichen. USA, 1971. This is one of six anti-pollution posters sponsored by Olivetti Limited in 1971 and produced under the guidance of Jean Herzberg Lipman, a noted New York patron of the arts and longtime editor of 'Art in America'. With her impressive contacts, she attracted Roy Lichtenstein, Georgia O'Keefe, Edward Steichen, Ernest Trova, Alexander Calder, and Buckminster Fuller to the project. They each created a poster beginning with 'Save Our Planet' and then with a secondary slogan concerning the protection of water, air, wilderness, wildlife, people, and in this example, cities.The poster is in its original seal and signature stamped signed lower right 25” x 39” Property of a Private Collector East Hampton, New York estate.Shipping or local pick up available.
