Civil War Artifacts and a ëFoghorn' Newspaper From July 8, 1943 - Civil War Artifacts and a ëFoghorn' Newspaper From July 8, 1943 Civil War artifacts from the Stone River Battlefield, Murfreesboro, TN. The battle began on the last day of 1862 and was won by the Union. The artifacts are from the foundation of a pre-civil war dwelling used as headquarters for the Union Army. ”A27” is legible on one of the pieces. The newspaper is from Sandy Hook, NJ. Printed on July 8, 1943, it is printed for the benefit of the military men and and WAACS. (Women's Army Auxiliary Corps). Condition: The artifacts are rusty and in several pieces. There is nothing identifying them as civil war artifacts. The newspaper is stained and torn.
