With foreword and afterword by R. Moshe Bassola, the first publisher. Antique ownership inscription : “This sefer belongs to the esteemed Rabbi Raphael Shlomo Levi, may his light shine, of Finale.” The Gaon Rabbi Raphael Shlomo Levi, head of the yeshiva and halachic authority in the city of Finale, was born at the beginning of the 17th century. He stood firmly with those loyal to ancient tradition, who continued to don tefillin on Chol HaMoed, in opposition to the view of the author of Mishnat Chasidim (see his responsum in Shemesh Tzedakah, Venice 1743, part I, fol. 27a; and in Rabbi Yitzḥak Lampronti’s Pachad Yitzḥak, entry “Tefillin, ” Berlin 1888, p. 105). In sefer Shemesh Tzedakah by Rabbi Samson Morpurgo, in the section Penei Keruvim, Rabbi Raphael is described as: “The choicest of sages, a priceless gem, ” and there as well are printed his valuable words of Torah, ethics, and rebuke. Seforim that belonged to him are extremely rare. Signatures of the gaon Rabbi Menashe, son of Rabbi Gershon Padua. A poetic composition in the handwriting of the Gaon Rabbi Raphael, son of Rabbi Moshe Filis. He served as a dayan in the city of Cento in the early 17th century. An exceedingly rare manuscript! An early Italian signature: “Acquired with payment, I, Yecḥiel HaLevi.” [1], 2-19 leaves. 15.7 Cm.
