Copy of the Holy Rebbi Moshe Halberstam of Bardejov. Otzar HaKavod, First Edition, Nové Dvory 1808- Approbations of the Maggid of Kozhnitz & Rebbi Naftali of Ropshitz - Sefer Otzar HaKavod, a kabbalistic commentary on the Aggadic passages of the Talmud, authored by Rabbi Todros Abulafia. Nové Dvory, printed by Johann Anton Krieger, [1808]. First Edition of this early kabbalistic work. With approbations from the Holy Rebbe Israel Hopstein-The Maggid of Koznitz and the Holy Rebbe Naftali Zvi Horowitz of Ropshitz (given in the name of his teacher the Holy Rebbe Menachem Mendel of Rimanov). In the margins of the page of approbations appears a note regarding the approbation of the Holy Rebbe Jacob Isaac Horowitz-the Chozeh of Lublin “The great luminary, the famous pious one, the kabbalist, the holy lamp… Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchak of Łańcut—he had set a fence for himself and refrained from giving approbations for the printing of seforim… Yet because of his great desire for this holy work… he signed his name in the register of those who signed, and his signature there shall stand in place of an approbation.” A rare sefer that has appeared only a handful times at public auction. On the title page, page 13, and the final leaf appear the stamps of the Holy Rebbi Moshe Halberstam of Bardejov. Ownership inscription on the front endpaper: “This sefer belongs to the sharp and erudite rabbi whose learning is pure and clear.” Partially erased stamps of one of his holy sons, apparently Rebbe Yechiel Natan Halberstam. The Holy Rebbi Moshe Halberstam (1850-1904) the first Admor of Bardejov. The son of Rebbi Baruch of Gorlitz, the son of Rebbi Chaim Halberstam of Sanz. Rebbi Moshe's mother was the daughter of the Yitav Lev of Sighet. Rebbi Moshe studied with his grandfather, the author of the Shut Divrei Chaim, which Rebbi Moshe edited alongside his cousin, Rebbi Shlomo Halberstam of Bobov. Was the son-in-law of his uncle, Rebbi Aharon Halberstam of Sanz. Became the Rav of Bardejov in 1874 and many Hungarian Sanz Chassidim traveled to see him. His sons succeeded him in Bardejov. His son The Holy Rebbi Yechiel Nathan Halberstam of Bardejov (1865-1933). Rabbi Yechiel Nathan was the son-in-law of Rebbi Arye Leibish of Dulka. He served as Rav in Sanz HaYashan, and after the passing of his father he filled his place as Ab”d and Admo”r in the city of Bardejov, Thousands of Gorlitz Chassidim flocked towards his courtyard. Also his brother-in-law Rebbi Chuna Halberstam of Koloshitz, expresses his praise and send many to him for salvation. He passed away the 7th day of Nissan 1933. [3], 48 Leaves. 21.8 cm.
