Signature of the Holy Rebbi Aharon Weiss, ABD Bendkowitz & Ra’avad of Munkatch. Rare Chasidic and Kabbalistic Work: Tal Orot, First Edition, Lvov 1875–1876. - Sefer Tal Orot. An important work that illuminates and elucidates the mysteries of Kabbalah, by the holy Rabbi Yaakov Meir Spielman. Two parts bound together in one volume. First Edition, published during the author’s lifetime. Lemberg, 1875–1876. On the first title page appears the signature of the Holy Rebbi Aharon Weiss, Av Beit Din of Bendikowitz and Ra’avad of Munkatch. An inscription on the front flyleaf reads:  “Belonging to the sharp and erudite rabbi, the great luminary of holy lineage, etc., the honorable Rabbi Aharon Weiss, may his light shine, Av Beit Din of the district of Munkatch, may his Rock preserve him.” His signature is extremely rare! The Holy and renowned righteous Rebbi Aharon Weiss, Av Beit Din of Bendikowitz and Ra’avad of Munkatch, was also known as the Rebbe of Rosvegove . He was born in Munkatch in 1851 to his father, the eminent gaon and tzaddik Rabbi Shmuel Tzvi Weiss, Ra’avad of Munkatch (father of the holy Rebbi, author of Imrei Yosef of Spinka). He was raised by his father in Torah and Chassidut, and already in his early youth displayed great love of Torah and a life of holiness. On one occasion, when he accompanied his father to the holy Rebbi Yitzchak Isaac of Zidichov, the Zidichov Rebbe pointed to him and said: “This is the one of whom they say that he knows Chen (the inner wisdom of Kaballah).” At about fifteen years of age, when he again visited the Rebbe of Zidichov, the Rebbe told him: “Aharon, study tractate Chullin with the Rishnim & Achronim, the Tur and Yoreh De’ah, and also the laws of ritual slaughter thoroughly, so that you may be able to serve as a rabbi in Israel.” His associates did not understand the connection between rabbinic leadership and the laws of slaughter. At about seventeen he married the daughter of the eminent gaon Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel HaKohen, Av Beit Din of Kapish. At his father-in-law’s table he studied Torah with remarkable diligence and conducted himself with great asceticism in all matters. He received rabbinic ordination from leading sages, including the author of Yitav Lev of Sighet, Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Mannheim of Ungvar, Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried of Ungvar, and others. In his youth he visited nearly all the great tzaddikim of Hungary and Poland, though his primary attachment remained to the holy Rebbe of Zidichov. His father-in-law also influenced him to visit from time to time the holy Rebbi, author of Divrei Chaim of Sanz. He served as ritual slaughterer (shochet u’vodek) in the town of Bendikowitz, and by the instruction of the Rebbe of Zidichov he was appointed there as Av Beit Din. In 1907 he established his residence in Rosvegove , where he conducted himself as a Rebbe to many Chassidim from the surrounding region. In 1915 he acceded to the request of the community of Munkatch to serve as Ra’avad, a position he held until his remarkable passing in 1933 (See at length in Zichronot HaMaor, pp. 308–311.) The author, the holy Rabbi Yaakov Meir Shpilman (b. 1813 – ), was born in Ropshitz in Galicia and was a disciple of the holy Rebbi Naftali of Ropshitz. He also spent time in the courts of Rebbi Shlomo Zalman Yosef Frankel, the Rebbe of Vilopolye, and Rebbi Asher of Ropshitz, author of the sefer Or Yesha. At a young age he served as rabbi in the town of Craiova, and from 1849 he served as Av Beit Din of Bucharest. [4], 69, 79 Leaves. 25 cm.
