Rare Kaballah: HaNephesh HaChochmah, Basle 1608. First Edition- Copy of the Tzaddik R. Avraham Hirsch Lvov of Pressburg. - Sefer HaNefesh HaChachamah, kabbalistic discussion of the destiny of the soul after death and the secret meanings of the mitzvot, by R. Moshe de Leon. First Edition. Basel: Konrad Waldkirch, 1608. The index at the beginning of the seferdetails 76 sections. Sections 1-5 contain the secrets of the soul and reward in the World to Come, section 6 contains the secret of the resuscitation of the dead, sections 7-71 contain the secrets of the laws and mitzvot. Sections 72-76, detailed in the index (with works by other kabbalist), were not printed ”for lack of time”. The sefer begins with an introduction by the publisher, R. Avraham Abba son of Shlomo (Abba Bumsla), who states that since the book was written in no particular order, he ordered and indexed it. Antique ownership inscription: “Belonged to the late Tzad dik, our teacher R. Avraham Hirsch Lvov, of blessed memory.” The eminent rabbinic scholar, the wise and perfect man, the renowned righteous R. Avraham Hirsch Lvov (1777–1834), son of the notable R. Mendel, son of the great R. Tzvi Hirsch Lemberger. He served as parnas (communal leader) and leader of the holy community of Pressburg in the time of Maran the Chatam Sofer, who held him in very high esteem and lavishly praised him. He was a powerful magnate, a man of mitzvot and authority throughout the entire country; every major matter was brought before him. Beyond this, he was a great Torah scholar who never ceased from study, and all his deeds were for the sake of Heaven. In his eulogy, Maran the Chatam Sofer said of him: “I was young and I have also grown old, and I have not seen a leader of such character and righteousness as he.” It is related that he also said that the passing of R.
