Item Overview

Description:

Lechol Chefetz. Only edition, Venice, 1552 — Business Contract Templates for the Abrabanel Family.

Sefer Lechol Chefetz, legal forms for contracts, in accordance with the law of Moses and halacha, by Rabbi Eliezer Mili. A unique work containing 38 templates for various types of legal documents.

Only Edition. Venice, 1552. Printed by Daniel ben Cornelio Adelkind [at the Justinian Press].

The author, one of the sages of Italy, served as rabbi in Ferrara. On leaf 1 appears a dedication by the author to Yehuda ben Don Shmuel Abrabanel and his mother, Signora Benvineda. The Abrabanel family required these contract forms for their business dealings, and it was apparently for them that the author prepared this work.

[16] Leaves. 18.5 Cm.

Printed by Daniel ben Cornelio Adelkind. Few seforim were printed in Venice by the printer Daniel Adelkind. See A.M. Habermann, Areshet vol. VI, p. —, where the present work is listed as no. 3.

With a manuscript copy from 1561 of the contract form cited in the Hagahot Mordechai in the name of Rabbi Yaakov of Orleans.

Overall Very Good Condition, some stains, new brown leather binding.
