Autograph Manuscript of the Holy Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Tzvi Yalish, Author of Melo Haro’im. - Novellae on Tractate Shabbat in the very handwriting of the holy Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Tzvi Yalish of Dinov, author of Melo Haro’im and Kohelet Yaakov. Forty lines in his autograph. The holy and pure Gaon, “a holy man of God” (in the words of the Shoel U’Meshiv), Rabbi Yaakov Tzvi Yalish of Dinov (1778–1825), was among the great tzaddikim of Chassidut and foremost rabbinic leaders of Galicia. A disciple of the fathers of Chassidut – the Chozeh of Lublin, the Maggid of Kozhnitz, Rebbi Menachem Mendel of Rimanov, and the Yismach Moshe – he was a close friend of Rebbi Tzvi Elimelech of Dinov (Bnei Yissaschar) and of the Yeshuot Yaakov. Counted among the most renowned Geonim of Poland, he served as Rav and Rebbe in Glagow, Husakow, and Dinov. A lofty and wondrous tzaddik, sharp and erudite in both the revealed and hidden Torah. The Bnei Yissaschar of Dinov writes in his approbation: “And Hashem was with him, for the halachah follows his opinion.” Though he passed away at only forty-seven years of age, his literary output in both Nigleh and Nistar was immense. By his own testimony, he authored works corresponding to the gematria of “Shemen Zayit Zach” (433), of which were published: Kohelet Yaakov, Melo Haro’im, Beit Va’ad Lachachamim, Parashat Derachim Zuta, glosses and novellae on Shas (Vilna edition), and more.
