Framed Arba Minim of the Vizhnitz Monsey Rebbe – Rabbi Mordechai Hager. - An extraordinary framed set of the Four Species (Arba Minim) – Lulav, Etrog, Hadas, and Aravah – encased under glass with ornate colorful illustrations. Each specimen originates from the personal set of Arba Minim used by the Vizhnitz-Monsey Rebbe, Rabbi Mordechai Hager זצ״ל, during the festival of Sukkot. The presentation features the four ritual components carefully mounted within an elaborate gilt wooden frame, with artistic depictions of classical columns, crowned arches, and symbolic motifs. Inscriptions and dedicatory texts embellish the design, enhancing its ceremonial and devotional significance. Such an item is exceedingly rare, preserving authentic physical remnants of the Rebbe’s personal observance of the mitzvah of the Four Species – a tangible connection to his piety and leadership. This framed piece was gifted to a devoted chassid and contributor, David Mehler, as a token of blessing (beracha) for protection (shemira) and success in all aspects of life. Rebbi Mordechai Hager (July 14, 1922 – March 16, 2018 ) served as the Rebbe of Vizhnitz in America for 46 years and was one of the most respected Hasidic leaders of his generation. Born in Grossverdein to Rabbi Chaim Meir Hager, the later Vizhnitz Rebbe, and Margalia Twersky of the Rachmastrivka dynasty, he was raised within the heart of Hasidic nobility. As a youth, he studied under great rebbes including Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum of Satmar and Rabbi Yosef Greenwald of Pupa. He and his family escaped the Holocaust by reaching Bucharest, where in 1945 he married Figa Malka Twersky, daughter of the Skverer Rebbe. Following her passing, he married her sister, Rebbetzin Sima Mirel, with whom he raised a large family of 14 children. In 1948, he immigrated to the United States, settling in Williamsburg and later in Monsey, New York. Following his father’s passing in 1972, he assumed leadership of Vizhnitz in America, while his brother, Rabbi Moshe Yehoshua Hager, became Rebbe in Israel. Rabbi Mordechai Hager was known for his ascetic lifestyle, fiery Torah discourses, and extraordinary devotion. He founded the village of Kaser in Monsey, creating housing for his Hasidim, and met with world leaders including President Jimmy Carter. At the time of his passing, he was the oldest serving Hasidic Rebbe in the world, with tens of thousands of followers across the globe. He passed away in 2018 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, leaving behind a dynasty that continues to flourish. 49 x 34cm. 56 x 41cm (with frame).
