A letter in the name of his holy father: “It was duly received by my honored father, the Rebbe of Gur, shlit”a, the sum of one hundred dollars on behalf of the Kolel of the Polish community...” with the stamp of the Imrei Emes of Gur. 2. A letter on his personal stationery during his father’s lifetime: “The sum of 125 Palestine pounds via the administration of Yeshivat Sfas Emes, which you sent to my honored father shlit”a, has duly reached him. Surely you also received my previous registred letter... Regarding the Kolelim you wrote about, I believe my honored father has already written several times on this matter, and even now he writes again. At present the matter depends upon you, and this suffices.” 3 . A letter on his personal stationery during his father’s lifetime: “Enclosed is the receipt from my honored father shlit”a for the sum of 225 dollars through the Yeshiva... Surely each one will exert himself to fulfill the request of my honored father shlit”a concerning the Kolelim and will inform us. Thank G-d, with us the esteemed Rebbe’s health is unchanged — may the Almighty strengthen him and grant him a speedy recovery. Perhaps it would be appropriate to send a list of the contributors to the Kolelim, to be signed by my honored father shlit”a and returned to you.” 4. A letter on official stationery from the beginning of his leadership: “I hereby bless you regarding the engagement of your son, may he live. May the Almighty help you and grant you great nachas from all your offspring, may they live. Surely the Almighty will also help your daughter in law, may she live... and He will help your daughter, may she live, for His mercies are abundant. May the Almighty help everyone and you as well with whatever you lack. When you see them, please convey my regards.” On the reverse side, several more lines in the holy handwriting and with the signature of the Rebbe, the Beit Yisrael of Gur. 5. A letter on official stationery from the beginning of his leadership: “I inform you that, thank G-d, we are well. May the Almighty send a complete recovery... and may He help them with children, health, and livelihood. Please continue to inform me from time to time about what is happening with you in all matters.” Maran the holy Rebbe Yisrael Alter, the Beit Yisrael of Gur (1895–1977), son of the Rebbe, the holy Imrei Emes of Gur, zt”l.
