One Dollar Bill Received from the Holy Hands Lubavitcher Rebbe, on the 10th day of Shvat 5752 - Yahrzeit of the Frierdiker Rebbe - The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, led the Chabad-Lubavitch movement from 1951. He is known for his profound wisdom, compassionate leadership, and unwavering dedication to the Jewish people. One of the many ways he sought to uplift and inspire was through the distribution of dollar bills. It was customary for the Lubavitcher Rebbe to give out dollars to his Chassidim and many other men women and children who came to see him on different occasions. The Dollars were usually distributed in relation to Holidays and Significant Days of the Year, on Sundays, and in the Rebbes later years different variations of dollars were given out and included along with the special Kuntreisim that would be distributed in 770. This one-dollar bill was received from the holy hands of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, on the 10th of Shevat, 5752 (January 15, 1992) — a date of profound significance in Chabad. The 10th of Shevat marks the yahrzeit (anniversary of passing) of the sixth Rebbe of Chabad, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn (the “Frierdiker Rebbe”), who passed away on this day in 1950. It is also the day the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, formally accepted the mantle of leadership of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement one year later, in 1951. This date marked exactly 40 years of the Rebbe’s leadership — a milestone of extraordinary influence and global impact. In honor of this occasion, the distribution of a Tanya — the foundational work of Chabad Chassidut — was held on this day in 5750, continuing the Rebbe’s lifelong mission of spreading Chassidic teachings to every corner of the world. Each year, on this date, the Rebbe would hold a farbrengen, delivering powerful talks, words of inspiration, and guidance to his Chassidim, connecting the legacy of his predecessor with the mission of our generation. Receiving a dollar on this auspicious day from the Rebbe further enhances its spiritual value, reflecting the continuity and vitality of Chabad leadership and vision. On the Front of this Dollar Bill is written by R' Avraham Yaakov Ginsberg: ” On the 10th day of Shvat 5752 ; Received from the hands of his Honor and Holiness the Admo”r Shlit”a, .” Provenance: R' Avraham Yaakov Ginsberg
