A Special Five Dollar Bill Received from the Holy Hands of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, on ”Tu BiShvat” the15th day of Shvat, 5751. - The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, led the Chabad-Lubavitch movement from 1951 until his passing in 1994. He was known for his profound wisdom, compassionate leadership, and unwavering dedication to the Jewish people. One of the many ways he sought to uplift and inspire was through the distribution of dollar bills. It was customary for the Lubavitcher Rebbe to give out dollars to his Chassidim and many other men women and children who came to see him on different occasions. The Dollars were usually distributed in relation to Holidays and Significant Days of the Year, on Sundays, and in the Rebbes later years different variations of dollars were given out and included along with the special Kuntreisim that would be distributed in 770. There were only two specific instances when the Rebbe distributed five-dollar bills to the public: On Tu B'Shvat: The Rebbe returned from the Ohel, after several hours and, following evening prayers, gave out five-dollar bills to approximately 4,000 people over a period of about three hours. During the distribution of the ”Kovetz 22nd Shvat”: This pamphlet included conversations about the significance of Jewish women. Alongside the pamphlet and lekach (honey cake), each packet distributed by the Rebbe contained a five-dollar bill. He gave out approximately 10,000 such packets at this occasion.  On the Front of this Five dollar bill is written R' Avraham Yaakov Ginsberg: ”Received from the Hands of his Honor and Holiness the Admo”r Shlit”a, in the late afternoon of ”Tu BiShvat” the 15th day of Shvat , 5751.” Provenance: R' Avraham Yaakov Ginsberg
