Song of Songs, trilingual edition: Hebrew, Ladino (in Latin letters) and Spanish. The Spanish translation is from the Aramaic translation of Shir HaShirim; bound together with Tractate Avot in Spanish translation, with a partial title page, the pagination continues in Tractate Avot. Amsterdam, David de Castro Tartas, 1664. Especially rare book. Listed in the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book according to a photocopy of only the title page, & a article printed in Aalei Sefer, Ktav Et L'Cheker HaSefer HaIvri 12 (1986) pp. 101. Present copy is an early edition of this book which was printed in a number of editions, for some communities in Spain, for the Shabbats between Pesach and Shavuot, who would read Shir HaShirim and Pirkei Avot then. Seemingly t his is the First Edition that printed Shir HaShirim & Tractate Avot together, with Spanish & Ladino translations. (The Tractate Avot was published once before in 1644, recorded by Kayserling in 1890, today only a single copy exists in a Swedish library) Translation of Shir HaShirim was done by Moses Laniado, translation of Tractate Avot is attributed to Moses Belmonte. 153 Leaves. 14.6 Cm.
