Letter of recommendation for a Bachur a Talmid Chochom who needs a loan to be able to go to Eretz Israel, otherwise he might end up in the army C''v.
The Gaon Rabbi Avraham Zvi Hirsh Grodzinski (c. 1857-1937), oldest son of Rabbi David Shlomo Av Beit Din of Vievis, and elder brother of Rabbi Chaim Ozer. Served close to 50 years as teacher and head of the Ramailis Yeshiva in Vilna. In Rabbi Chaim Ozer's Sefer Achiezer (Vol. 3 Siman 83), he mentions "My brother R' Avraham Zvi Hirsh who was teacher in the Ramailis Yeshiva in our community from 1890 and died on Rosh Chodesh Kislev 1938".
The noted Ramielis Yeshiva (named after Rav Mailles), was one of the most prestigious Yeshivos in Lithuania following its founding in 1815 by the legendary R. Abele. R. Yisroel Salanter taught there and the Chofetz Chaim learned there for a few years. Its last Roshei Yeshiva were R. Shlomo Heiman and R. Yisroel Gutsman.
