Many other signatures & inscriptions, among them from Reb Shlomo the son of the author, ''Chaim Getzil son of the Rabbi'' & others.  [5], 30; 18; 26, [1] leaves. 13 chapters and three articles on the eternity of the Torah and the Oral Torah. The Chatam Sofer, when seeing a copy of the book, wrote the long last responsum in Shu”t Chatam Sofer Orach Chaim part one, (Responsum 208) relating to the book and wrote to the author: With blessings of life and peace ... the great and exalted, lofty ... Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Chajes, etc. To inform you with great love that on Shabbat I was overjoyed to receive his book Torat Nevi'im and I reviewed it, etc. The Gaon Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Chajes (1805-1855), known by the acronym MaHaritz Chiyus, was born in Brody (a city renowned for its outstanding Torah scholarship) and was known as a child prodigy, knowing Tanach by heart as a young boy. He studied under Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Heller, Rabbi Elazar Landau and Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margulies, (the Rabbonim of Brody) and developed into a prodigious Talmid Chochom. In addition to his vast Torah scholarship, he was also knowledge in the sciences, and was fluent in 5 languages .He corresponded with the Chatam Sofer In 1828, at the young age of 23 he was appointed to the distinguished position as Rav in Zolkiew at the recommendation of the author of Yeshuot Yaakov. but suffered greatly due to many opponents, who accused the young Rav of being a Maskil because of his proficiency in secular subjects. In 1852 he accepted the invitation to be Rabbi in Kalisch, however tragically 3 years later, at the age of 50, he and his wife succumbed to a Cholera Epidemic. His many Seforim include responsa, Toras Nevi’im, Ateres Tzvi, and most famously his comments on the Talmud which were incorporated in every modern edition of Shas. Good condition, some tears to title page, stains, original binding, spine damaged.
