Overall in good-Very good condition, light worming in margins of a few pages, later simple binding. Given as a wedding present to Rabbi Shlomo Baumgarten from his friend R' David Weinberger. Rabbi Gershon Rabbi Gershon son of Rabbi Yitzchak Ashkenazi (1715-1693), one of the greatest rabbis and leaders of his generation, who raised many students. Born in Olaf (Germany), He was a student of the Bach, the Magini Shlomo and Rabbi Menachem Mendel, author of the Tzemach Tzedek Responsa (HaKadmon). Served as a Dayan in Kraków, and as Rabbi and Rosh Yeshiva in Prostitz and Nickelsburg (Moravia), Vienna (Austria). After the deportation of Austrian Jews, he became a rabbi and Av Beit Din of Metz (France).
